Personality/Past Overview/Role in Plot

Jack on the outside is an ordinary-looking guy, perhaps coming off as a little quiet and strange. He has an interest in things that are a bit morbid, such as crime scenes, ghosts, murder and so on. This was sparked due to his father's job as a detective. Though he has ended up in a carpentry occupation, he still has a big interest in his father's work and at the age of 21 would at times watch his dad at work on scenes and so on.

Once one gets to know what's beneath the surface, Jack is actually a tad snarky, with a sarcastic sense of humor, and maybe even at times big-headed though usually in a joking manner. He also has a tendency toward recklessness, though this could also be seen as bravery in some cases. Surely not in the case in which he might drink too much, (which might happen every so often), though in a sense he has the guts to take on daunting tasks and likes the thrill of a good adventure. His dad's knowledge on the case of the Sharpe's and Allerdale Hall sparks his interest, and his brashness leads him to convince a new friend (and love interest) of his to take a look at the heinous case up front. During this he and Marian do share many thrills, scares and close calls with the Sharpe deadly duo. Posing as beggars looking for work in the middle of a snow storm, Lucille Sharpe allows them a few days or weeks to remain there. During their work however they do nose around, and when Lucille finds out Marian's true identity things get a bit extreme. The two however do manage a way out, as well as helping Edith.

Relationships
Barbara Weston (mother) Jack and his mother haven't always seen eye to eye. Though he may have picked up a few of her bad habits, Barbara is more so the type of person who has a tendency toward depression and self destruction. She met Jack's father as a teenager in high school, he was an exchange student from London at the time. They did start a life together for a short time in the USA, though as Barbara's addictions grew, Jack and his father would have to leave to England once Jack had turned 14. It was agreed upon between the two and various court visits. At that point Jack was very down and ready for a drastic change, hence his agreement to move with his father. To this day he speaks to his mother rarely, each time she is still very incoherent and on drugs. He fears that she will die still stuck in her habits and prefers to stay away.

Joe Prosser (father) The two have their differences in personality type, though share many of the same hobbies and interests. Like his mother, Jack is at times relentless, a risk taker and snarky while his dad is more-so reserved and typically likes to play things safe. Joe is thankful though that Jack has a tight reign on his bad habits, only over-drinking every once in a while, and believes Jack has learned from witnessing his mother's behavior not to go down the wrong path. Joe is one who has built Jack up in his darkest moments and the two have much respect for one another.

Marian Arkwright The two meet at a park, and what catches Jack's eye besides her beauty is the mystery book in her hands. He claims she looks familiar though can't tell due to the frumpy clothes she's wearing. This is because Marian is of nobility and is typically seen in much nicer clothes. After speaking and learning all their shared interests, Jack's interest is sparked. Once Marian builds the nerve to tell him she is of nobility, Jack to Marian's surprise doesn't shy away. They share moments together and Jack has the opportunity to go to a royal ball. Though he enjoys his time, he learns that Marian doesn't enjoy her life. Eventually the two make their plan and leave to Allerdale Hall, risking their lives together. Marian also learns something of Jack and that is despite his silly wit, sarcasm and slight big-headed ways, he takes love to heart and eventually they tie the knot.
